Sleep Apnea and Snoring, Reduce Pain, & Stimulating Healing

Do you have facial pain or headaches? Fear of dental treatment or the drill? Fear of getting a shot? Bleeding gums or mobile teeth?

Treatments with the dental laser may be able to help.

What is it?

Laser assisted dentistry is just that. Dr. Conner uses a laser which produces an intense and narrow beam of light energy to assist him with your treatment. By using the laser, dentists can sometimes fill teeth (cavities) without numbing, or stimulate bone growth, as well as disinfect a tooth or gum pocket.

The dental laser can even reduce or eliminate muscle pain in your temple and jaw area.

Dr. Conner is able to control the power output of the laser and focus in on a specific area of the mouth so, laser assisted dentistry allows the patients to receive treatment of a very specific nature without impacting surrounding tissues.

Lasers have been used in dentistry for more than two decades and are proven safe and effective.

How are lasers used in our office?

  • Treat Sleep Apnea and Snoring with Nightlase™
  • Reduce pain associated with Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ) and facial pain (MFP).
  • Reduce the need for a traditional dental drill when doing some dental fillings.
  • Assist in root canal procedures by eliminating bacteria increasing the probability of success.
  • Promote bone regeneration in periodontal conditions.
  • Manage gum tissue during procedures such as impressions or crowns.
  • Remove overgrown tissues or inflamed gum tissues, helping in the treatment of gum disease and with home care.
  • Reshape gum tissue and bone to expose healthier tooth structure, when procedures like crown lengthening, are needed.

What are the benefits of laser assisted dentistry?

  • Lowers pain level
  • Stimulation of the tissue to help make healing faster
  • Lower anxiety and fear
  • Overall better results

In many cases, later assisted dentistry can help alleviate the need to use a drill or administer anesthesia: helping to create a more relaxed dental experience. Eliminating the need for anesthesia also removes the uncomfortable side effects of anesthesia, like the inability to eat or drink after a procedure, numbness, impaired speech, and more.

Lasers can also help reduce symptoms associated with a variety of dental issues like morning facial pain following teeth grinding at night, and the facial, joint and muscle pain associated with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder.

Lasers also reduce bacteria in gum tissue and tooth cavities and decrease healing time.

    Is laser assisted dentistry safe?

Yes, when used by a trained practitioner, like Dr. Conner.

    Nightlase™

Nightlase™ is a procedure performed with a dental laser to help increase the volume of air moving through your throat. This is accomplished by rejuvenating the collagen fibers in these areas. This is a procedure with no cutting or removal of tissue, there are no needles used and need to be sedated.

As you may know, a laser is a refined beam of light which is formed from particles all of the same wavelength and power. Light is energy, and this energy is used, in a very safe way, to break apart the old collagen fibers and stimulate your body to add new rejuvenated collagen fibers. These new fibers tighten and add tone to the tissue in the throat area which opens or expands the breathing passage. The reduction of this flabby, throat tissue reduces the available tissue to vibrate and reduces your snoring.
